About Holiday Home Camp

Holiday Home Camp is a 26-acre facility located in Williams Bay, Wisconsin on the shores of Geneva Lake. The camp was established in 1887 by Chicago industrialists and remains one of the oldest accredited camps in the country still operating in its original location. In fact, the American Camp Association has recognized Holiday Home Camp as a pioneer in the field. Throughout a typical summer, Holiday Home Camp provides age-appropriate one and two-week programs that serve over 500 youth (ages 7-16) from economically disadvantaged communities. Additionally, as many as 40 teens (ages 14-18) apply for and are accepted into the 5-year Leadership Training Program (LTP).

Summer CampersIn addition to a staff of highly trained camp administrators and facilitators, Holiday Home Camp benefits from the contributions of seasoned professionals in the following areas of practice: mental health, physical health, nutrition, therapeutic recreation, adventure education, art therapy, outdoor and environmental education, aquatic recreation, and water safety. Together, they share a profound commitment to creating and sustaining a physically and emotionally safe environment that serves as the foundation for individual and group growth.

Education and applied learning in the areas of basic nutrition, health care, wellness, personal hygiene, care for personal belongings and shared community living are intentionally woven into the day-to-day experience. Cross-functional evidence-based programming leverages typical camp activities into learning opportunities. Bonfires, group games, aquatics, nature hikes, and crafts are infused with outcome-based exercises and challenges designed to develop life skills such as: responsibility, accountability, trust, communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, problem solving and goal setting. Year after year, as campers return, they have the opportunity to build on these life skills and increase their sense of self-esteem, self-confidence and self-reliance. Many choose to apply for the Leadership Training Program, a year-round, community-based program for teens that focuses on areas such as: advanced leadership skills, community service, environmental stewardship, goal setting, reflection, and life planning.

At Holiday Home Camp, history tells us that our proven process makes a measurable difference in the lives of youth we serve. The experience is vibrant…and engaging…and it changes them. Ultimately, our kids are instilled with the potential to make meaningful and lasting contributions to their families, schools and communities.
